New Dress

I entered the world of refurbishing last night and made a dress out of a shirt that was given to me, but never really fit right. It really was quite simple - much simpler than making it from scratch! You can't really see the detail too well in the picture, but it has a cute front with three little buttons at the top and pleats all the way down. Lots of detail with not much work and the shirt finally has a purpose!

Nothing in Particular

Can you tell I'm trying to post more? It's not a New Years resolution or anything, but I want to be a bit better about documenting my life.

I'm happy to report that Ella quickly recovered from her sickness. I believe it was caused by food poisoning and not any virus. I've fed from a baby food jar and refrigerated the unused portion occasionally (I don't buy baby food too often) to feed it to her the next day and that finally kicked me in the butt. :) I won't be doing it again. If you don't think your child will eat all of it, put a small portion in a different container and add to it as you go. :)

This weekend was truly lovely. I enjoyed the pool with James and the kids, the reading I indulged in, but most of all I loved the amount of TIME I got to spend with James. It seems so rare that we get to actually be together between work, school, homework, and other activities that it was nice to have this weekend be just for US, with no one but Ella and Addie to interrupt it. I think I've fallen in love all over again.

I should post a picture of James and I to end this post, but I don't have one. What I do have is a cute picture of Addison covered in stickers her grandpa Harward gave her. Such a character!
Since taking this picture, Addison had her hair cut; only, this time, it was by me. I wanted to even it out, (we're still working on that from the hair cut fiasco in July) since it was finally growing longer. However, I was once again reminded that I am not a beautician (Sorry Lynds for that long ago haircut!) after cutting the back WAY too short and having to accommodate by cutting the rest of the hair shorter than I planned. Oh well, it's not that bad, but definitely NOT professional looking. Addison enjoyed it though!

Sick Baby

Poor little gal. Being sick is no fun. It is fun to have her so cuddly though!

The hardest part is keeping her hydrated when too much will make her throw up all over again. It's frustrating not to give her all she wants to drink. Advice, anyone? I've been letting her nurse and get a few swallows and wait to do more for a half hour and I will gradually decrease the time between sucks. Hopefully she'll get over this quickly!

We have a walker!

It's been awhile since I last blogged - life's been moving way too fast! Ella officially began walking yesterday and is already into more things. :) Watching her hit these milestones is a joy! She is so excited to be able to walk like her big sister. She already wants to do everything she does.

Addison is full of spunk and sass, as usual. She is into pretending she's Nemo, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Jessie (Toy Story 2), Lightning McQueen, etc. Usually I'm Marlin, Woody, Mater, or a Prince, while Ella is Dorie, Buzz, Doc, or a prince as well. This girl has quite the imagination, not mention endless energy!

James is back into the daily grind of work and school. We miss him when he's gone so much!

Here's a little clip of Ella walking.

My latest Creations

This weekend was awesome. I got to spend some time with a bunch of friends at Time Out for Women in SLC. We all stayed overnight in one of their Gma's condo and had a great time. Thanks so much for the fun! It was a much needed reprieve from the daily grind. :) Maybe we should do this monthly? I wish! But, it did make me think I need to get out more without the kids and have some time to myself. It certainly has helped me be a happier momma this week. (The uplifting speakers and amazing music helped a little too. ;)

I went to my sister Ali's today and made a name board for Ella. I already had one made for Addie from when she was a newborn and though it was about time I did something for Ella. Ali helped me a lot with it - thanks for the supplies and handwriting! After seeing how this turned out I may have to make a new one for Addie!

I think I've posted a pincushion I made on here before, BUT this is a new and improved one. :) Plus, it's cute.

Hooray for Thanksgiving next week! And Hooray for James' birthday!

I found Addison sitting at her Elmo table reading one of James' school books and couldn't resist sharing it with everyone. She's so funny! (and so studious!)

Nemo Birthday Cake

I told Addison awhile ago that I would make any cake she wanted for her birthday and we decided together, after looking at pictures online, to make a Nemo cake. It turned out pretty well for my first time! It was a lot of work though - I can't imagine decorating cakes for a living! I would definitely have carpal tunnel doing all those stars. We celebrated a few days early with the Harward Clan.

So Happy Birthday to our little Addison this week!

Bathroom Exploring . . .

Addie, age 1 1/2
Addison has been intrigued with what's under the bathroom sink for quite awhile now. She's asked me questions and I've answered them the best I can, without giving too much information for such a little gal!

This afternoon, we were at G-ma & G-pa Harward's house helping move things around. Addison disappeared and I went off in pursuit of her. I found her in the bathroom, finished going potty with panties and pants around her ankles. She begins to talk to me and is just bursting with excitement and enthusiasm. She began by telling me, "I'm such a big girl now, I can get into these because I'm all grown up! I found them!" One of the drawers under the sink was open and I asked her what she found. "I'm all grown up Mom, I'm so big!" I asked her to show me what she found and she pointed to a pink tampon, wrapper off, thrown away in the trash can. I begin to giggle at this point. Addison is still just so excited and tells me all the things she can do now (and this is a direct quote) "They (referring to the tampon) can keep me company and make my bum strong." Oh, that girl is so hilarious. So, as of today, Addison's bum is officially strong and in good company. :) As I was laughing, Addison comments, "You think I'm so funny Mom." And, I do. Who couldn't laugh at such a cute little girl?!
