My Garden

The garden began back in March, hauling compost, tilling it in, planting all those cool weather crops - peas, carrots, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. It has taken awhile, but it's finally paying off!
Here are some pictures of my garden this year, or rather, the garden I took over. :)

The left side of the garden. Strawberry patch, melons, squash, and soon to sprout corn.

The middle garden with three plots. Front is cabbage, lettuces, carrots. Middle - peas. Back, tomato and pepper plants and sunflowers.
Right side is (or was) potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, spinach, random lettuce, green beans and green onions and more corn.

I found some tomatillo plants this year! I'm very excited about it and one has a blossom!This is what broccoli looks like when it flowers. Beautiful!I finally have peas - the beginnings of them anyway - in JUNE! I never would have thought we'd have snow peas in June. Such weird weather lately!

Sleeping Beauty

It has been almost two months since I last posted anything! My excuse is that a friend and I, Serena Cofer, have a booth at the Provo Farmer's Market and it really takes A LOT of time, but that'll be another post.

This is about Sleeping Beauty. If you are around Addison much, you know that she adores her sleeping beauty dress and wears it quite often. She's always been required to wear a shirt under it because it's sleeveless, but now she must wear shorts under it since it's split up the back. It is literally in tatters, but until I get around to making her a new one, it'll have to do!

About a month ago, when the tulips were still blooming, we found a few to put in a vase and she had to have one of her own. Almost as soon as we entered the house she tells me that I (prince Phillip, of course, whom I often am commanded to pretend to be) must slay the dragon. She disappears into her bedroom and this is what I found (after I slayed the dragon).

Ice cream anyone?

My friend Ashley came up with the brilliant idea to have a craft exchange for our two oldest girls once a month. She lives in Maryland, so this is a fun way to keep in touch. For last month, (I know, I'm slow posting about it) I decided to finish these felt ice cream cones that I began LONG ago.

Birthday Celebration

Addie went on a walk with Uncle Perris and picked some beautiful flowers. She gave me a lovely dandelion, which Ella promptly stole and ate. Addie is wearing her Easter dress that I made. I'll post a full-size pic of her and Ella in them one of these days . . .

My birthday was a good day. James started the morning off by surprising me with a breakfast date to Ihop, while the girls were dropped off at Ali's. We enjoyed breakfast together and went on a shopping trip. We came home with a bag of mung beans to sprout. :) What can I say, I'm a bit picky when it comes to purchasing things. BUT, I had a great time with James, we don't often get to go out together alone. THANKS ALI & LYNDS!

We spent some time in Logan this weekend visiting the Stones/Whicker family. The Easter festivities included a lot of good food, Conference, running after children, finishing Easter dresses (post to follow), getting up in the night with children, making more food, visiting,
and running after children.

Sometimes it feels like traveling just isn't worth it. Just like I told myself today as Lyndsey and I dragged a bawling Addison out of a store because she was confined to the stroller because she ran away AGAIN. I hate shopping with children. :)

It was worth visiting though! We love the Stones and the Kelleys. Next time we'll try to stop in Kaysville and visit the gpadres there.
